Spring 2012

Six Weeks and counting. Wow seems like time has really gone by extremely fast the last eight months (for the most part anyway). Lincoln's baby sister will be here soon :) We had a doctor's appointment yesterday and all is good. The past four or five appointments have been quick informational appointments. They check my size, and the baby's heartbeat <3 I think every time they check her heartbeat she kicks them or punches them, or does some type of movement. Dr. Davis told me yesterday that the next appointment (two weeks) is where they start checking me to see how things are progressing. God has richly blessed us, and we give him the praise for everything :)

Lincoln had his fourth birthday on January 24th and is such a blessing to Brock and I. So hard to fathom that he will go to preschool this coming fall (Pre-K), wow. We have spent as much time as possible playing outdoors the last couple of months, especially with the uncanny weather we have been having. 70s and 80s in early March is not something we are use to. Thank you God!!! And the month of April has been a little cooler, more so in the mornings, but we are able to go out in the afternoon :)

The last couple of months have been busy with Wednesday night church as well (FUN nights). I taught the K-2 graders, Brock lead a class through the book Radical (awesome book), and Lincoln went to his FROG class. He is learning how to Fully Rely on God. He was able to say his verse after the first night and learned a great deal in his class :)

On March 31st Lincoln spent the first night in his new room. He was able to help Brock with painting the room, which was so cool. He has his cars tent on his bed, new paint on his wall, a new shelf for his toys, and he gets excited to be able to get his clothes out of his closet by himself (it really is the little things). We love him so much. He seems to be getting very excited for the arrival of his sister, we shall see how things go. We pray he doesn't get jealous, loves his sister, and continues to remember how much we cherish him.

Our Savior is Risen!! And we praise HIM!!! Thank you Father for loving us and taking care of us each day!!

Getting Closer

Well we have had a busy couple or months, or maybe they weren't extremely busy but they went by extremely fast. It is so hard to believe that we now have a four year old. He is growing up so fast, and continues to amaze us each and every day. We had a big birthday party for him this year. This was the first year for a family and friend party. We had it at the church youth center, downstairs. It was a Cars 2 party. It was lots of fun-games, cake, ice cream, presents, fellowship, the whole shebang. We had an interesting morning that morning though--it was the weekend that we had ice in Columbus--so figuring out if we were having it was interesting--but it all worked out very well :)

We also are approaching the birth of our second child very soon. It seems to really have hit home with Brock and I now that my appointments are 2 weeks apart--and for me now that she is moving more and more. I am starting to nest just a little or at least to the point where I am ready to have Lincoln's new room ready and the baby's room ready as well. We are to the point of painting Lincoln's room so it won't be long ( I think he is very excited, which makes us happy).

I will be entering my third trimester in about a week and just loving being pregnant--couple pains here and there--but all is good. I will try to post a pic of her soon. When we went for our recheck a month ago :) she didn't allow us to see what we needed to see to confirm it is a girl, but we are still going with girl--we shall see. Only God knows and he will take care of us either way :) So awesome we have a God who loves us so much.

Here are a couple of other pics or my little man and his party :) He was excited about all his gifts, and wanted to be sure I saw this one (CANDY).

Exciting News!!!

Well it has been long enough. It is time to update our blog, pretty extensively actually. But for now just an update. We are all three doing very well. Brock is working hard for the Lord at FCC, I am home with Lincoln watching other children during the week, and Lincoln is growing so fast--taking so much info in every day and loving life :)

We found out some really amazing news back in October. We are excited to announce that we are expecting another bundle of joy this next May. Lincoln will be such an awesome big brother. I have had three appointments so far, and everything looks good. Our first appointment we went expecting to have an ultrasound, took Lincoln with us, and found out we weren't far enough along to have the US yet. So we left a little discouraged but were excited to go back knowing we would get to hear the baby's heartbeat and hopefully see a glimpse of him/her. And soon enough we did, Lincoln loved it. He sat with Daddy and just watched as the doctor checked the baby. Lincoln got a chance later to show the picture to friends and family telling them all about the baby :) I had another appointment a month later, which I was in and out of fast--just to check the heartbeat and my measurements.

Our next appointment would be to have an US and find out the sex of our new little one. It was scheduled for December 28th, which we were shocked at, because I would only be 18 weeks and with Lincoln I was around 20 weeks. We took Lincoln with us again and he has been saying all along that he thought it was a sister. And when we were sitting in the room waiting for the doctor he said it was a brother. He cracks me up--not sure that when he was saying sister the whole time he knew that meant a girl :) We tried to explain that to him, but he just went with it anyway. The doctor came in and said something along these lines, "you are 18 weeks, why are we doing an ultrasound?" I told him I wondered the same thing. The other doctor in the office scheduled it, so who knows ;)

He proceeded to say we would go ahead with it and if he was able to he would tell us the sex. He started the US and Lincoln sat with Daddy again just discussing all the things the doctor was showing us. We got to see the baby's face, belly, arms, legs, arms move a little, spine, and ........ one tiny little picture the doctor snapped at the beginning lead the doctor to believe we are going to be having a little girl :) He said we would do an US in a month to confirm. So I will update this blog when that time arrives. We are so very excited about having a baby girl and just an bit nervous at the same time.

I am feeling well, starting to show, and so ready to get things ready at the house so we can welcome her. We want to be sure to give Lincoln the room he wants and make sure he knows how much he is loved. So please pray for us during this process--he knows how much he is loved, most definitely--but moving things and painting, and all that goes with getting things ready will take us some time and energy.

So with all that said we are well!!!!!! More updates to come soon.

Summer Days

Well today is June 30th. Where has June gone, I would really like to be able to answer that question, but I can't. We have had some great weather the past month, just beautiful :) We have been spending a lot of it outside. Lincoln spends his time riding on his scooter, his police car, or four wheeler (which he is too big for--crazy) out on the drive as well as on the "kidney bean."

We have also spent a great deal of our time out in his pool. He has become a big fan of the water, which I think he has always been--just a little braver every year. Our great friend Christy and her three boys Timmy, Ryan, and Braeden have invited us to swim in a big pool the past three Tuesdays and we absolutely have a blast (thanks to Al and Angie).

The past few days he has had a fascination with my camera, so I showed him how to point and shoot. He really does a great job. Anyway here are a couple of pictures that we took together this morning. ( The first one is at the beginning of this post.)

He is just too much fun. I love you Lincoln Thaddeus. I am so blessed to have your Daddy and you in my life--God is truly awesome.

Fruit Salad

Whew, what a fun week spending time with my two wonderful guys. Brock has been working his butt off this week getting things ready for Easter Sunday and working on some creative work for Steve and Jen. He is so great at what he does!!! Lincoln has been busy as well, always on the go and always with a wonderful smile on his face. I will have to take a picture one morning of his smile that he wakes up with--it just brightens my day.

This is a picture from this week. We had some very nice weather on Monday of this last week-- I believe it was in the 70s, or close to it. Anyway Jorja was here for the afternoon and Lincoln asked to play in the water table. So I kindly obliged, and any time we get the water table out we end up getting wet. They had a blast. As the week went on we ended up with lots of rain, so it was a good thing we got outside to play on this day.

We had a little different small group this week, we took time to allow the kids to do an Easter egg hunt. The kids had a really good time hunting for the eggs, it was a bit wet and muddy, but that doesn't bother them one bit. Before going out to look for eggs Lincoln found a treasure in the house, Joe's fire fighting gear. Lincoln was so excited.

Our Wonderful 3 Year Old

It has been since July, wow. Every time I think I might sit down and blog, I lose focus and end up doing something else like play with Lincoln, clean the house, work on my Mary Kay business (which I am not doing any more by the by), dig into God's word, or who knows the list goes on and on.

The new joy that came into our lives is now 3 years old, Lincoln Thaddeus Pickett we love you so much. Lincoln has been playing his little heart out every day since we last blogged. God has blessed me with being able to stay home with him since last April, wow it has been a year almost.
Lincoln and Abbey

Every day is different, never a dull moment. Lincoln just soaks everything in as he plays, as we sit down to read, sit down to do flash cards, paint, work on puzzles, do imaginary play, plus so much more. His imagination never ceases to amaze me :)

Brock and I worked on potty training Lincoln back in the Summer, but he just wasn't interested at that time. Well Brock and I decided that our goal was to have him potty trained by time he was 3 and we succeeded--with the help of a smart little boy. At the end of October we were shopping for diapers and bought a larger box of them, and at the same time we bought Lincoln some big boy underwear. Needless to say the next day he wanted to open the package and got very excited to go potty. It took us maybe a week to two weeks to get him fully potty trained, we were very excited. So then we had a full package of diapers, only have using maybe two of them, but I would rather it be that way.

The past 9 months have been pretty eventful. Going to the fairs :), potty training, Lincoln gaining a new friend-- a little girl I watched for about 6 months (Eaden), spending more time with our our little friend Jorja, spending the holidays with family and friends, meeting Lincoln's new cousin (Ava) right before Christmas :),celebrating Lincoln's third birthday in January, going to see Toy Story 3 on Ice, and so much more. I really wish I had recorded every day of his life--but instead we are just enjoying the ride.

So I know this blog entry is pretty spread out and not at all in order, but there you have it. To sum it up God is Good and He always will be!

Summer 2010

Why it has been an awesome summer so far. I started staying home with Lincoln after doing Holly's maternity leave (Apr. 19)--and it has been so much fun so far. We get to sleep in a little longer, make Brock breakfast (well most of the time ;) ), play in the pool, eat lunch with Brock, go to the library, and so much more. This past week we took a trip to Loretto, KY, Holiday World, and to see Uncle Andy and Aunt Shannon. Dad and Mom made the trip with us, and it was a blast!! Lincoln loved the water at the restaurant we ate at in Louisville, the airplane and boat rides at Holiday World, to see Toy Story 3, and we had a great visit with Uncle Andy and Aunt Shannon "didn't we?" This is the new thing Lincoln likes to say that we absolutely love.

Since we last posted our little boy has grown up a little-- he is now in a big boy bed. On Memorial Day weekend we went and bought him a new mattress and Toy Story comforter. He does very well in it. In the mornings he wakes up and says "come in, come in." As of right now he stays in the bed until one of us goes in to get him--we shall see if that lasts. He also likes to say " I got Woody Buzz" as he gets excited about his bed. We are very thrilled that he likes it so much.
